WELCOME BACK, KERSHAW

I don't think the music from Star Wars Empire Strikes Back was playing anywhere near the National's Stadium yesterday in Washington (May 6, 2014) when Clayton Kershaw returned to the mound for the Boys in Blue.

No Star Wars Theme Music needed for  Kershaw's Return on 5-6-14

Although no timetable was ever given,  many said Kershaw would make this season's US debut in June.  It was just a few  weeks ago and Clayton Kershaw still was not able to throw off a mound.

This is a recording from just 1-month ago where Kershaw talked about having patience: [CLICK FOR AUDIO]

Fast forward to April 26, 2014 and Kershaw threw five innings in a rehab start vs the Lancaster JetHawks.  Kershaw threw 56 pitches over 5 innings with 6 Ks and gave up two hits, 1 a homerun, to Carlos Perdomo.  Afterwards, Kershaw gave props to Perdomo.

Classy Clayton Kershaw.  True to form.  Playing a solid game and being an even more solid person.

The team missed you.  The fans missed you more perhaps.

Welcome Back.

"Who'd have thought they'd lead ya (who'd have thought they'd lead ya)
Back here where we need ya (back here where we need ya)
Yeah, we tease him a lot 'cause we've got him on the spot
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back
Welcome back, welcome back, welcome back"

-John Sebastian

And, on the spot was Kershaw in his return for the Dodgers on May 6th.  Mr. Kershaw threw 7 scoreless innings, threw 79 pitches and fanned 9 batters.

Don Mattingly had this to say about Kershaw,

""It's nice to have him back," Mattingly said with a smile. "He shows you right away what you've been missing."

Yes, Clayton Kershaw, WELCOME BACK!

and

Stay Classy
