TALE of TWO HOUSES: LA

April 29, 2014

Adam Silver dished out the max penalty to Donald Sterling
READ HIS STATEMENT HERE
History was made  as NBA commissioner, Adam Silver, announced that Clippers Owner Donald Sterling is to be fined $2.5M and receive a lifetime ban from the NBA.

BANISHED!

In William Shakespeare's, Romeo and Juliet, Romeo would rather die than be banished from Verona where his LOVE, Juliet, resides.  Eventually, he got his wish:

There is no world without Verona walls
But purgatory, torture, hell itself.
Hence “banishèd” is banished from the world,
And world’s exile is death.

Silver has also demanded the sale of the Clippers franchise which still awaits a vote by the other 29 owners that needs 3/4 of the 29 to "pass."

Donald Sterling stands to profit handsomely from this if it goes through.   So, in the city where drama never sleeps, this Verona (Los Angeles) has another "House" with ongoing issues that are not nearly as severe.  Or are they?

Much like the Capulets and the Motagues in Shakespeare's play, the two houses of LA, Lakers and Clippers, have been "dueling" one another for awhile now.  Until recently, the battle for LA has not really been much of one.  With the Lakers recent tragedies, however,  and the Clippers now a perennial playoff team, their respective fates have turned.

In fact, if the NBA Board of Governors votes Donald Sterling out and the Clippers get a new owner, like Magic Johnson, wouldn't their fates change for the better even more?

This is a franchise that has been mired in misery for a long time, and THAT might be more offensive to many that know basketball and sports.  And in what is a despicable ordeal circulating the owner of the team, the Clippers organization may walk away with yet another stepping stone towards winning their first NBA championship:

A new Owner.

MAGIC, A Laker, to buy Clippers?

Speaking of leadership, the other house in LA, the Lakers, are still pondering their future with current head coach, Mike D'Antoni.

Reporters everywhere are trying to "scoop" the news that D'Antoni is staying or going in LA.  Nothing, yet, has been reported as to whether the Lakers have officially picked up his option year of his current contract.  D'Antoni's agent is pressing for that option to be picked up.

However, public opinion might suggest that Many Lakers fans might want to see a banishment of another kind.  Is there anything in the Constitution of the NBA, Mr. Silver, that allows for fans to BAN their COACH?. Calling Mr. Silver?  Mr. Silver?  Bueller...?

We shall see how the Tale of Two Houses: LA plays out.   Adam Silver has ordered the BAN and has called for a vote that may oust Sterling as an NBA Owner but how does THAT relate to the Constitution of the United States?  What about the admissibility of the recording(s)?  And, what of the lawsuit filed by Sterling's wife and the relationship with the "mistress" that has been going on for a number of years?

The Lakers, meanwhile, STILL have not announced ANYTHING regarding Mike D'Antoni.  Many have written about him and have actually "announced" his "staying in LA" -according to the guy in the broom closet in El Segundo.  NO Legitimate sources have gone on record to report Mike D'Antoni's future with the team.

LA may RID themselves SOON of both Sterling AND D'Antoni

Perhaps D'Antoni can Tour the Islands around the world and take Sterling with him.  I am sure that some may want to see BOTH swimming with the fishes..
