It's also tough to NOT make comparisons to the dynamic duo that led Indiana University to their fifth NCAA championship in 1987. Keith Smart and Steve Alford.

This year's UCLA squad may have been lucky to just get into the Tournament. And, we know what happened in their first match with the infamous goal-tending call. Prayers?
Steve was coached by Bobby Knight who is rooted in the concept of team.
Steve has his guards competing at a high level while Looney and Hamilton have been coming into their own and contributing nicely. Parker?
He is a different story. When he does play well, the Bruins have a fighting chance in any game they play. The challenge and the question becomes which Parker will show up? The one that almost cost them the game vs. SMU OR the one who set an career bests in points and rebounds vs UAB?
We shall see tonight vs Gonzaga.
Either way, it has been a pleasure to watch Powell and Alford mature and play tremendous basketball.
Like father like son? Steve Alford is recognized, at least, as one of the greatest tournament players in NCAA history. Bryce is showing that the apple is not far from that tree with his 24 points per game and over %70 shooting from the arc.
As to moving on in this tournament? Well, if the dynamic duo continue to perform as solidly and efficiently as they have, and Parker doesn't play with his head up his rear (I've seen it happen) and the Bruins can defend the three ball, they give themselves a shot.
