The Fisher King

Spring is upon us.  A NEW DAY has arrived.  Might the Holy Grail that the Lakers seek be just ahead?  Perhaps.

The organization definitely has a golden opportunity in front of them with the list of excellent candidates for the now vacant coaching position.

Derek Fisher's name has been one that has surfaced, and many Fans like the idea of Mr. Fisher becoming the next Lakers Coach.  Meanwhile, I think ol' "D-Fish" has some other business matters to tend to, like a quest for another NBA Championship Ring.
 It would be his 6th!

A fan, who called into 710 ESPN LA's "Metta's World" made this point about D-Fish:

"Kobe hasn't won a ring without him so I would like to                            see them reunite."

Makes sense. They have 5 Rings together: The three-peat years: 2000, 2001, 2002 and back-to-back in 2009-2010

"Fisher has maintained for months that this will be his final season as a player and is believed to prefer a front-office career to coaching, but his relationship with the Lakers is such that Fisher has to be considered a viable candidate for the bench." ^Ramona Shelbourne ESPN

We will first have to wait for the season to close for the Oklahoma City Thunder and then we will have to wait for the D-Fish decision on what he wants next as a person and a professional.  He may want to take some time off versus getting back into the daily grind of the NBA.

As in the Story of the Fisher King

who essentially is the "keeper" of the Holy Grail

[THIS HOLY GRAIL Needs to find it's way back to the LAKERS.  Who is going to lead them There?]

       D-Fish MAY hold that

key to getting back on track as an NBA contender.

There is no doubt that Derek Fisher is one of the most well-loved Lakers to have have donned the purple and gold jersey.  He may be one of the most respected players to have ever played the game as well.

Adrian Wojnarowski wrote: " Fisher is close to the end with the Thunder, and he'll be the rare non-star to choose his next direction: management, coaching or television."

Undoubtedly, many Laker Fans would strongly disagree with the "non-star" descriptor, with ALL due respect WoJo:

Personally, I LOVE the idea that Derek Fisher's name is in the discussion.  I'm just not so sure he wants to progress in that direction (Coaching) NOW.  But nothing makes me happier than knowing that there is a real possibility that the Lakers Coaching position may come down between to Laker Legends:

Derek Fisher and Byron Scott

If  D-Fish wasn't a STAR beforehand, he certainly was after ".4"
