LAKERS IN THE PLAYOFFS!

EXTRA EXTRA!

The LAKERS ARE IN THE PLAYOFFS!!!!

You, too, could snap a photo like this on your phone

YOU STILL WITH ME?

OKAY, IT may NOT be the LAKERS themselves in the Playoffs this NBA season, but their NBA D-League affiliate,

                                           the Los Angeles D-Fenders ARE!

The Playoffs start TODAY (for the D-Fenders)!  And, the D-Fenders will be matched up against the Santa Cruz Warriors (the NBA Golden State Warriors affiliate).

PERFECT.

They played each other 8 times during the season and split those games.  I was able to see 3 of those games in person.

As that head-to-head would indicate, they matchup #verry well.  Before we get to the MATCHUP, I want to point out some interesting things about the format:

1) There ARE 17 teams TOTAL spread out into 3 Divisions and 8 teams make the playoffs.  Each Division Winner gets seeded 1-3 based on record and then get to select what team they face in ROUND 1.  The remaining two teams, after that selection process, also face each other.  As the number two seed overall, and WEST DIVISION CHAMPION, the DFenders chose the #scwarriors (Santa Cruz Warriors).

2) Each playoff series, Round 1, Semi-Finals, and Championship follow THIS BEST-OF-THREE Format: The team with the "home court" advantage plays TWO GAMES AFTER THE FIRST ONE IS PLAYED AT THE OPPONENT'S COURT.  !Muy Interessante!

THE GAMES WILL BE BROADCAST ON CBS SPORTS NETWORK

IN THE LOS ANGELES MARKET,
ON +Time Warner Cable SportsNet , the channels are 261 and 474

I think most NBA fans are aware of the "Splash Brothers" of Golden State Warriors: Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.  DID you know they they EACH have Brothers on their D-League Team?  INDEED. Seth Curry (who was recently on a 10-day NBA callup with the big squad) and Mychel Thompson BOTH play for the @DLeagueWarriors.  SPLASH BROS, PART DEUX (2.0)!

    PLUS,

A PLAYER THAT IS BEYOND WORTH THE PRICE OF ADMISSION, MR. KIWI GARDNER:

The DFenders have their own bros, who I call, THE "BUCKET BROS" who ALL have the same last name, WILLIAMS:  T (errence) , S (hawne) and CJ (and, no, they are no actual siblings).

T Will, or Terrence Williams, just received honors as the "Impact Player of The Year" given out by D-League Digest. Both Terrence and Shawne are averaging 20.5 ppg.  Shawne played 36 Games with the Lakers before being released and was later re-called by the Big Squad on an NBA 10-Day. The last "Bucket Bro," CJ is avergaing 14.4, so as a trio, they put up about 70 per contest (69.8).

In reality, on any true TEAM, they are ALL Brothers, and the DFenders lost one TODAY to the NBA.

 James  Southerland

got the CALL from the NBA Pelicans and will join them for the remainder of the season: #BigUpps

to YOU, Mr. Southerland and thank you for you effort and play with the Los Angeles D-Fenders.  Pleasure to have seen you in person and to have shaken your hand.

The rest of the Brothers are good too as the Los Angeles DFenders have a really balanced TEAM attack: Josh Magette playing like (a young) Steve Nash, Josiah Turner looking like Isaiah Thomas (Detroit Pistons), Andre Ingram with poise and control, Brandon Costner going inside and OUT, Travis Hyman holding it DOWN in the MIDDLE, Gideon Gamble who plays effective and efficient ball and newcomer Elijah Millsap.  Mr. Millsap was acquired by the DFenders on March 29, 2014 and now, with Mr. Southerland leaving for the NBA, will be much needed I am sure.

The Santa Cruz warriors also LOST a player to the NBA, C Hilton Armstrong, who left for Golden State.  I am happy for Mr. Armstrong and glad to have seen him play in person: BEST OF LUCK, and #BigUpps

This may help the DFenders.  We shall see as the Warriors have a formidable squad with similar balance and team as compared to LA!
